Regulations of the Czech Pharmaceutical Society

1. Name and position

1.1. The Czech Pharmaceutical Society (abbreviation CPS) is a national society with its seat in Hradec Králové, which acts in the territory of the Czech Republic.

1.2. The CPS is an independent, optional, non-governmental, open organization of pharmacists and other professionals in the health care field and in specializations which apply the results of their activities in health care.

1.3. The Society is politically, economically and in its organization independent of political parties, governmental and economic agencies, other social, interest and professional organizations and civil initiatives. But it cooperates with these groups in the promotion of mutual interests.

 

2. Function and aim

2.1. The main function of the Society is to accumulate, develop and apply the knowledge of pharmaceutical science and to use it in health care.

2.2. To fulfil its main aim, the CPS directs its activity in the following ways. It:

  • maintains broad development of all professional sections and related fields in the CPS structure,
  • organizes professional sections with the aim of sharing up-to-date results of pharmaceutical and other related science fields,
  • maintains development of international contacts in the field of pharmaceutical science,
  • selects members as of attestation, accreditation and audition committees,
  • cooperates with professional chambers and other professional organizations in health care,
  • proposes representatives to advisory bodies of official health institutions within its field,
  • participates in scientific-research and educational activities and cooperates with research and academic institutions in the field of pharmaceutical science,
  • gives honours (commendations, honorary memberships, medals) to national and foreign professionals,
  • may advertise competitions to maintain scientific and professional activities and grants awards for the most valuable scientific projects, publications, lectures or communications,
  • periodically publishes a professional pharmaceutical journal, or other specialized publications,
  • performs purposeful economic activity for material maintenance of its aims.

3. Membership

3.1. Membership in the CPS can be regular or honorary.

3.2. Regular members of the CPS include pharmacists, secondary health school staff and professionals in health care and the fields which carry out their activities in the health care. There is no discrimination against potential members as to their position at work, political membership, nationality, religion, race, or sex.

3.3. The staff of secondary health schools and universities of the associated specialization as well as retirees who have worked in the pharmaceutical field before or have taken part in the activities of the Pharmaceutical Society may also be the CPS members.

3.4. Membership in CPS is optional; all members are equal and have equal privileges and duties.

3.5. Membership commences with the acceptance of a new member after discussion by the committee of the CPS.

3.6. Membership expires by:

  • resignation,
  • a member’s death,
  • a membership cancellation.

3.7. The person who has achieved extraordinary merit in the development of pharmacy or related fields may be accepted as an honorary member of the CPS.

3.8. Honorary membership is granted or revoked by the Presidium of the CPS – generally on the basis of the proposal of professional sections which also propose other awards and medals.

3.9. The CPS member has the privilege:

  • to take part in the Society’s activities, generally in professional sections and regional pharmaceutical clubs,
  • to vote and be elected to CPS bodies and compete for CPS awards after one year of permanent membership,
  • to express his or her opinion, submit matters and proposals for the improvements of the CPS and its bodies’ work, and to be informed about results; these proposals may be delivered to any CPS body, especially to management of professional sections and pharmaceutical clubs,
  • to take part in person in the CPS meetings in the case of the member’s concerns,
  • to be informed about the CPS management activities and accepted statements,
  • to resign from the Society or appeal against the CPS membership cancellation.

3.10. CPS member is obliged:

  • to keep the regulations of the CPS,
  • to take part in the CPS activities according to his or her possibilities, especially in professional sections and regional pharmaceutical clubs,
  • to pay the set membership fee in specified periods.

3.11. Significant violation of regulations, especially conscious non-payment of the membership fee for a period longer than two years, could, after a written reminder, result in the decision of the CPS committee to cancel his or her membership. After the missing membership fee is paid, the expelled member can ask for reacceptance.

 

4. Structure and CPS bodies

4.1. The CPS has these bodies:

  • The Plenary Session,
  • The Presidium,
  • The Audit Committee.

4.2. The CPS activity is managed by the Presidium, which is composed of the representatives elected for a 4-year period. The presidium consists of President (Chair), 2Vice-Presidents (Vice Chairs), Science Secretary, Treasurer and six other members.

4.3. The Audit Committee of the CPS consists of three members, controls the CPS budget, and informs members and Society committees about the results.

4.4. The CPS is divided into Professional Sections according to the specializations of individual members with respect to the professional activities, and according to the place of a member’s activities into regional pharmaceutical clubs.

4.5. Each professional section and regional club has usually five-member committee which is directed by its Chair.

4.6. In its international contacts, the CPS and its professional sections may use the names corresponding to the names of foreign partners.

 

5. Possessions and CPS budget

5.1. Sources of financial means are:

  • membership fees,
  • other resources, gifts, and grants,
  • the proceeds of organized activities,
  • the proceeds of appropriate economic activity.

5.2. The Society manages resources in accordance with the calculation for a calendar year and has to respect valid government legislation.

5.3. The budget and the state of the possessions of the Society are under joint control of members and are approved by the Plenary Session.

 

6. CPS journal

6.1. The professional periodical journal of the CPS is Česká a slovenská farmacie (Czech and Slovak Pharmacy).

6.2. The position of the editor-in-chief is nominated by the CPS Presidium and appointed by the publisher.
The Advisory Board of the journal is nominated by the CPS Presidium.

 

7. Joint regulations

7.1. The implementation of the CPS regulations is specified in organizing and executive provisions.

 

8. Regulation modifications

8.1. Appropriate modifications of regulations, organizing and executive provisions are authorized by the Plenary Session of the Society members.
