About the Section
The Section of Social Pharmacy consists of pharmacists – members of the Czech Pharmaceutical Society who are interested in the problems of drugs in public community. The aim of its work stems from the conception of Social Pharmacy which represents a new pharmaceutical field related to Social Medicine and the organization and control of health care.
The main aims of the section include the questions of drug policy and pharmaceutical health care, problems of pharmacy principles, education of pharmacists, the position of pharmacy in the health care, patient compliance, and level of health care public consciousness about drugs, etc.
The section activity is focused on the work in the above-mentioned fields in the Czech Republic but also on the experience of other countries, especially those of the EU, including the documents of the WHO and FIP.
In recent years, the subjects of Social Pharmacy in the Czech Republic have especially been:a) drug policy (international comparison, self-medication and OTC drugs, seniors and drugs, consumption and drug abuse),
b) pharmaceutical health care (compliance, communication, information, and health care consciousness).
