Foundation of the Section of Pharmaceutical Assistants
The Section of Pharmaceutical Assistants was founded in 1976 as a section of the Society of Technical Specializations of the Czech Medical Association of J. E. Purkyně. It included all staff trained by secondary health care schools except nurses. Each section worked separately, a meeting was organized once every four years. Each section provided professional seminars for its members and was a participant in discussions with the Ministry of Health concerning the questions of legislation proposals of individual professional sections.
With a change in the state-legislative structure, the above-mentioned Society of Technical Specializations ceased to exist and the Section of Pharmaceutical Assistants asked the Czech Pharmaceutical Society to incorporate as a section of the CPS, which is professionally closest to it, as they may solve the questions of pharmaceutical practice together. The incorporation into the Czech Pharmaceutical Society dates from 1991. At the end of the year 2004 the section was renamed the Section of Pharmaceutical Assistants.

The present-day Section of Pharmaceutical Assistants
- This section has always promoted the professional activities of pharmaceutical assistants.
- By offering information, it has attempted to introduce novelties in the field of its activities to the members.
- It supports high-quality educational programmes and thus cares about the development and postgraduate training of the community of pharmaceutical assistants.
- It organizes informative and educational meetings of its members.
- Not least it takes part in discussions with the Ministry of Health of the Czech Republic and it comments on the legislative proposals related to the profession of pharmaceutical assistant.
- It also confers and cooperates with important partners, such as the Czech Pharmaceutical Chamber, Committee of Pharmacy Owners, secondary health care schools as well as with the related Section of Pharmaceutical Assistants which is associated under the Czech Association of Nurses (www.cnna.cz)
